Asos Cassette Tape Watch.
June 27, 2008 · 1 Comment
Not only does this over-sized chrome watch conjure memories of my father in the 80’s, or of some science teachers I had in grade school, but of hours and hours spent leaning over a tape-to-tape boombox, with a dozen or so of my favorite cassettes splayed out on the floor, jockeying for position on the mixtape I am lovingly making.

For £35.00, this stainless steel beauty can be yours from UK-based Internet retailer asos. I especially love how the cassette reels have become the separate hour and minute displays on the analog clock. A closer look:

Wooden jewelry is in for summer.
June 13, 2008 · No Comments
These are my pick for the ladies who love dangly earrings. I love them, but petite moi only wears studs. You can scoop these up from Orno, a Montreal-based jewelry maker, specializing in wooden wears. These particular earbobs are carefully crafted from zebrawood — indigenous to Gabon and Cameroon, Africa. The yellow, brown, and dark-brown striping, indicative of the zebra, gives the wood its name.

Oh, here’s one more interesting fact about zebrawood to share with your friends this weekend: In 2002, zebrawood was used in the construction of the Flagship Prada store in Manhattan, prompting protests by environmentalists and resulting in a statement from Prada that it would never the use endangered forest wood again.
Oh Prada, ever the considerate, environmental do-gooder, you shouldn’t have.

2ReVert earrings.
June 2, 2008 · No Comments
Eco-friendly company, 2ReVert creates jewelry from 100% post-consumer, recycled skateboards. I was a little skeptical at first (imagining grip tape somehow molded into bracelets) but then I checked out its goods and fell in love with these “micro studs.” Each set is one-of-a-kind, and colors vary by skate deck stock.

2ReVert also carries a plethora of necklaces, cuff links, and bracelets. You can view its entire collection here.

What a great idea! Everyday before I leave for work, I apply Kiehl’s Musk to my wrists, my décolletage, and behind my ears. Now, I can apply it to my earrings, too! Finger food.

Oh, Ms. Yarborough, you shouldn’t have . . . a five-course meal on-hand at all times, really, how gluttonous! What? You want me to have the Boston Creme cake? I just couldn’t, really I’m on a . . . well, OK, if you insist. Can I get it to go? Oh, and I’ll take that lemon meringue pie, too.

Sabrina Dehoff.
May 6, 2008 · 1 Comment

I first discovered German jewelry designer, Sabrina Dehoff last year. And since then, I have kept her designs in a little box close to my heart. Just this month I noticed the recent launch of her new Web site which can only mean one thing: an inevitable expansion Stateside (although there are a few US retailers who currently carry a very edited version of her designs).

For her most recent collection, “MePairedYounited,” she constructs her pieces from multiple planes of metal to form one unified object. Not only are Dehoff’s pieces incredibly stylish, her creativity shows in her product catalogs and collection names, too, just checkout the pdf catalogs for yourself. My personal favorite is “Erratic Blocks From the Trip to the Moon,” and with a birthday just around the corner, perhaps I will acquire a piece myself.

Pop-out pendants.
April 4, 2008 · No Comments
Each of Melissa Borrell’s pop-out pendants arrives attached to the metal its cut from, perfect for the diy-girl who doesn’t have enough time to do-it-herself. Simply pop out the pendant, attach it to the enclosed chain, and adorn your neck. Packaging was never so interactive.
