The owners of Boston-based company, Bob’s Your Uncle have opened a brand new design store in Fort Point Channel. Front, as the store is called, does in fact carry Bob’s Your Uncle products, but it’s really a conglomeration of design objects and gifts from around the world.

Martin and Michele Yeeles have yet to launch a Front Web site, but hopefully it will be coming in the near future. The store is also an exclusive distributor of Thomas Paul melamine plates, which I blogged about a few months back.

Yes, my boyfriend lived with them in college, and yes, they’re some of my best friends, but Pants Yell’s! recent Pitchfork Review really knocked my socks off! Known across the board to be extremely finicky and often political about music, Pitchfork gave Pants Yell’s latest album, Alison Statton, a 7.5 rating! That’s huge!

Over dinner and drinks last evening, my boyfriend and I discussed the 7.5 rating with Pants Yell! frontman Andrew Churchman, deciding that in retrospect Pitchfork would only award a band like Arcade Fire the coveted 10.0 rating. Of note: While doing some fact checking, Neon Bible, Arcade Fire’s most recent studio alblum, only earned an 8.4. In fact, during this same fact checking session, I discovered that Pants Yell! beat out these recent releases:
1. Raveonettes, Lust, Lust, Lust (7.4 rating)
2. Hot Chip, Made in the Dark (7.0 rating)
3. Boris, Smile (6.4 rating)
Congratulations Pants Yell! this Pitchfork nod (and glaringly positive review) can only mean good things to come! Be sure to check out Pants Yell! at: http://www.myspace.com/pantsyellmusic, and check out the review here.

If you didn’t get a chance to read the Metro yesterday, then you missed the mention of the function key! Very exciting!

I caught a glimpse of this guy on the news last night and again today on my way to work — he’s an alligator snapping turtle and the newest member of The New England Aquarium’s aquatic family. Seems normal enough, but it’s how he spent his first life that amazed me — Fluffy’s previous owner, who happened to be a drug dealer, used him to guard his stash. When did guns, dogs, and safes go out of style?
