We all know how amazing Acne’s clothes are, so of course it’s no surprise that the company’s recent foray into furniture design is just as fabulous. You can’t tell from the images, but the sofas (all reinterpretations of Carl Malmsten’s Nya Berlin Sofa) are upholstered in denim.
Why you ask? Because Opening Ceremony is opening its second NYC outpost in the hotel, where it plans to sell must-have travel accessories, like this dopp kit, SWOON!!!
The Swatch watch has recently made a comeback into my life via my husband and his friend. They search high and low for the coolest Swatch watches on the market and have amassed an impressive collection. So I’m sure they’ll be happy to hear that Colette is feeding their obsession, at least for a few weeks. Now through February 15, 2010, Swatch has released the Color Codes collection (20 clean, solid color designs) and six new Swatch Art Watches — designed by David Benedek, Gary Card, and Carrie Munden — to be sold exclusively at the Parisian boutique. If you can’t make it to Paris, no worries! Colette is featuring the collection through its Web site, too.

Over the past couple of seasons tights have really moved beyond their ho-hum origins into bright colors, funky patterns, and chunky textures. In keeping with this legwear trend, Les Queues de Sardines takes the concept even further by adding some a humorous, hand silk screened narrative to each pair of it’s hosiery.
Would you believe me if I told these crayons are 100% edible? Well they are. Crayon is a project by Luxirare, a blog devoted to weekly fashion and cuisine endeavors — conceived and produced by a sole wunderkind — that are meticulously executed, methodically photographed, and sent once a week to email subscribers with quizzical headlines like “Crushed Mirrors.” Always spectacular, Luxirare’s ability to produce neverending eye candy be it black suede ankle boots or pie pops is a necessary addiction.
If you’ve seen The September Issue then certainly you’re familiar with Grace Coddington — that red-haired, wily Brit who unknowingly became the film’s protagonist. Remember she was opposed to retouching the camera guy’s robust belly and always tried to sneak in photos that a certain somebody removed? Surely you’ve fallen in love with her, too? And for a moment maybe you envisioned her name printed a top the masthead — Editor in Chief — and then briefly considered purchasing a yearly subscription as Vogue would finally publish content worth reading?
Sadly, she is not Vogue’s EIC. But maybe it’s better that way, because if she devoted her every moment to that fashion mag, she might become a perpetual wearer of sunglasses and wouldn’t produce witty side projects like The Catwalk Cats — a fantastic narrative of her and her husband’s 20 or so years spent loving and living with cats. Using Didier Malige’s photographs and Grace’s illustrations, the book tells the humorous tale of their lives through the eyes of their beloved cats; collections, cat fights, and all.
Say what you will about Banksy, the guy’s got smarts. And now, he’s taking them all the way to the big screen with his first film Exit Through The Gift Shop. Described as “the world’s first street art disaster movie,” the film portrays the bawdy existence of street artists, and by the looks of the trailer, it’s going to be a humourous ride. Exit Through The Gift Shop premieres at Sundance (I’m sure to much acclaim — celebs looove Banksy), with limited distribution this spring. Will you be seeing it? I know we will.
